What's new:

Announcing LINDO API 15 Beta Version.
You can now download a LINDO API 15 Beta version of the LINDO API optimization callable library. It has substantial improvements to all components of the library, the LP/MIP solvers, Global, NLP, and has greatly enhanced support for external MIP solvers. Most popular MIP solvers can now be plugged in with a simple command. It is available on all major platforms: Windows, Linux, MacOS, ARM, Android.
Details:
  • Improved reproducibility when solving a problem repeatedly, particularly with the concurrent option choosing the fastest of Barrier, Primal simplex, and dual simplex. This is useful if you are trying to debug your application.
  • Global solver, improved handling of IF statements and polynomials. Recognizes the CENSOR( x, LB, UB) construct which is the simplest form of an S-curve function such as might be found in neural networks. Recognizes the POLYNOMIAL construct to better exploit( e.g., local convexity) of univariate polynomials.
  • Improved Multi-start,
  • Increased support for external solvers, including linear solvers such as COPT, CLP, HIGHS,
  • Improved support for some external Nonlinear solvers.

Announcing  New  ARM / M Series Versions of LINDO API.
You can now download version 14 of the LINDO API that runs in native mode on ARM processers such as the M series on Apple Mac computers.  This native mode version is noticeably faster than the equivalent version running in emulated mode on the M series.  
More generally, the ARM / M series hardware is particularly attractive on  notebook computers because of its low power usage.  Its speed is nevertheless competitive with other hardware in the same price range.

Awarding Winning Work Uses Stochastic Optimization Capabilities of LINGO Software
At the IX National Congress of the Mexican Society for Operations Research, 13 - 15 Oct 2021, José Emmanuel Gómez Rocha, a student at Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Hidalgo, Mexico received the first-place award for the best thesis in the Undergraduate category, with his thesis "Optimization Models Multi-State Stochastics Applied to the Planning of the Production of a Furniture Company.” The work was directed by Prof. Héctor Rivera Gómez and Prof. Eva Selene Hernández Gress.
In his thesis, Gómez Rocha helped a furniture manufacturing company located in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico deal with the problem of how to set mean capacity as well as production levels in the face of uncertain demand when planning production over multiple periods. He used the stochastic optimization capabilities of the LINGO modeling software provided by LINDO Systems. In his work he did extensive analysis of what were the key features that affected expected profit. He looked at things such as is there a big difference between approximating random demand by a three-point distribution vs. a Normal distribution, or using a simple deterministic model as opposed to a model that takes into account uncertainty.

This version offers LINDO API to Android developers who want to incorporate LINDO’s powerful optimizers to their Android applications.
We also include a simple Android application for entering and solving linear, nonlinear and integer optimization models.

YouTube Introduction to LINGO and What'sBest! in Portuguese (Brazilian) Now Available. A collection of over 140 lectures, each of about 5 to 20 minutes in length has recently been made available on YouTube. These videos, in Portuguese, provide a very thorough introduction to the LINGO modeling system and What's Best! add-in to Excel. They start with the very elementary, such as transportation and staff scheduling problems, surplus/slack variables, and proceed to cover the more advanced features of LINGO, including K-best solutions and concepts such as convexity and positive definiteness. The videos have been prepared by Flavio Araujo Lim-Apo a master's student in Production Engineering at DEI/PUC-Rio, who has worked with Prof Dr Silvia Araujo dos Reis and Prof Dr Victor Rafael R Celestino from Universidade de Brasilia (UnB). LINDO Systems has added a new, extensive "How to" modeling document to its library. An extensive collection of problems is presented and then modeled in LINGO. Just a few of the problem types described and modeled are: Agriculture, Assembly Line Balancing, Aviation, Blending/Diet, Clinics, Construction, Cutting, Energy, Fertilizer, Finance, Investment, Logistics, Metallurgy, Refinery, Scheduling, and Transportion. The exercises are complete in that they show not only how to prepare the model but also how to use the various features of LINGO to generate easy to understand reports based on the solutions to the models. This large document is the work product of the energetic Carlos Moya Mulero. He has had many years of experience in Operations Management at Volkswagen and elsewhere.
